The Electric Toothbrush v Standard

Lots of people are using electric toothbrushes these days, but the sales for the standard toothbrushes is still stable and people still use them. There are benefits to using a standard toothbrush, such as no cost of the unit and no cost of using; when you’re done, take the old head off, discard it and recycle the plastic handle to minimise the waste.

The high-powered toothbrushes like sonic speed brushing are great and will do the job they say they will, but they are bound to damage the gums over time due to the harsh brushing from the faster speeds, so realistically they should not be used daily and a mix of standard and sonic would probably be the better choice.

The cost alone of most electronic toothbrushes is dreadful, and replacing the heads can also be costly over time. So if you are going to get one, take a look at what suits you best; there are battery powered brushes and rechargeable units available, and the battery powered brushes usually cost less and still do a good enough job to clean your teeth but eventually the batteries will need to be replaced or recharged if rechargeable ones have been used. The electric toothbrushes with an integrated battery unit will need to be put on charge after use, and you will have to take them off charge after they have finished.

Whatever type of toothbrush you choose, see what works best for you, and also what is affordable.
