Dental Check-Ups – What do they Look for?
It can seem all too easy to put off your regular dental check-up, or even to miss it altogether. Too many people in the UK think that a dental check-up isn’t an essential part of their dental care, and will end up neglecting their oral health. Don’t be tempted to do this, as it’s a very important part of your overall oral care. After all, you wouldn’t go to bed without brushing your teeth, would you?
A dental check-up looks for signs of plaque, decay, infection, or other oral concerns, such as mouth cancer. Your dentist will also look at the health of your gums and may take x-rays to look at surrounding bone structures. It’s important you attend your check-up appointment so that any issues can be detected early. This makes them easier to treat and can help avoid invasive treatments such as root canal, or even tooth removal.
