Why regular check-ups are essential
Regular check ups at the dentist are essential to maintain dental hygiene and keep your teeth and gums in good order. IF you are not already registered with a dentist then you should get your name down as soon as possible. Some dentists are private whereas most offer NHS and private dental care. You will still have to pay for your dental care even if on the NHS unless you have a valid exemption certificate.
IF you have children then it is important that you also get them registered with the dentist. You should try and take them for regular check ups every six months and ensure that they maintain regular teeth brushing in between. IT is important to ensure that you attend regular check ups as often if problems are picked up on early enough, they can resolved easier. For example, if you have slight decay in a tooth then it can often be filled whereas if left to long the tooth may have to be taken out completely. Children do not have to pay for dental work on the NHS so there really is no excuse not to take them. Even if you do not like attending the dentist yourself, try and not show this to your child as they will then often worry and develop a fear of going.
