The importance of taking your child to the dentist
Going to the dentist is never a nice experience for anyone and children can often feel very nervous, especially if they have been with an adult that is worried about going.
It is very important to everyone to go to the dentist, especially children. You may feel that your child does not need to go as they still only have mostly baby teeth which will eventually fall out, but this is simply not true. Not only is it important for children to go to get used to the dentist and to see that it is nothing to fear but also so they can pick up on any decay quickly. Milk teeth (or baby teeth) do not have a thick layer of enamel so any decay can spread very quickly. Your child may start complaining of tooth ache or a pain when they eat or drink. If this is the case then you need to book them in asap. Children can have temporary fillings that are set using a UV light. They are not as painful as an adult filing but still is not a pleasant experience. In order to try and avoid this, try and limit the amount of sweets and sugar your child consumes and be sure to carry out regular teeth brushing.
