During the first lockdown in the UK Dentists had to shut other than for emergencies. This meant that lots of people got behind with their appointments. Although dentists have since been able to reopen, many of us are still not booking our check ups. If you are not very keen on going to the dentist anyway then you may find It even more daunting due to what is going on at the moment.
Dentists tend to wear masks and googles anyway so you will probably find that actually not a lot has changed once you get in to the chair. Some waiting areas are closed and they prefer you to wait outside until you are called in, but all in all the process need not be any worse than any other time.
If you are concerned about visiting the dentist, it may be worth giving them a call and discussing your worries with you. They should be able to talk you through what you need to do and what steps they have in place to protect you. It is important to not leave it too long between check ups as if an issues is not picked up quickly it may end up being a lot worse and causing pain. You may even have to lose a tooth, so don’t delay get that appointment booked back in.
